DAUFUSKIE ISLAND

The TRADITION Continues

Daufuskie Island is the southernmost tip of South Carolina on the Atlantic coast, and lies between Hilton Head Island, SC and Tybee Island GA. Estimated to be between 80,000 and 120,000 years old, the ancient island has been inhabited for nearly 4,000 years. With no bridge to the mainland and access only by water, many of the island’s historical artifacts and much of its natural beauty have remained unspoiled and intact.

Today, islanders continue to work hard to preserve its immense natural beauty and rich history. Once you step foot on the island, you know you’re in a very unique place, and many visitors say they feel like they have been transported back to a simpler, friendlier time.

Visitors to Daufuskie enjoy exploring the island’s sand roads, secluded beaches, and abundant maritime forests, discovering fascinating wildlife and natural beauty around every bend. A variety of unique shops and restaurants are open, and islanders are happy to share their southern hospitality, and help you experience the joy of their lowcountry island home.
